ICICI Bank uses CTL to deliver innovative bankcard system

Press release from the CTL Press Office, March 28th, 2006

India's largest private sector bank, ICICI Bank, has chosen Card Tech Limited (CTL) to upgrade its bankcard management system to manage its extensive card portfolio and 60,000 merchants. With over 4 million cards converted, CTL has achieved one of the largest credit card conversions outside of the U.S. to date.

ICICI Bank had sought an open-platform, future proof solution that could accommodate its extensive card requirements, whilst providing a proven migration path from its existing systems. Its preferred solution, CTL’s PRIME 3.0 card and merchant management system, was swiftly implemented just 12 months from project kickoff.

CTL's project design and planning team methodology for systems integration and migration resulted in a smooth transition for the bank and, since going live, PRIME 3.0 has helped ICICI Bank to achieve secure, high-volume transaction processing. Using PRIME, the bank can now offer over 80 innovative card products, manage 100,000 merchants, and support its rapidly increasing credit card portfolio.

By using workflow technology to automate processes, FRAUDGUARD to detect suspicious transactions and Dispute Manager to manage chargebacks, CTL has provided a comprehensive solution to help ICICI Bank improve a number of its processes. In addition, by leveraging workflow together with web technology the solution can be easily integrated with other enterprise applications.

Pravir Vohra, Senior General Manager – Head of Retail Technology Group of ICICI Bank, said, “CTL has proven its ability to deliver with great success and we are impressed with the smooth implementation of its PRIME 3.0 package. With these state of the art systems, including features such as workflow management, we are in a perfect position to improve and control all our internal processes, and build on our successful growth by offering our customers even better products and services via a more secure and cost-effective environment.”

Commenting on the successful deployment of its systems, CTL’s Chief Operating Officer, Steve Hilling, said “CTL is pleased to be able to help enhance ICICI Bank’s operations with our flexible systems architecture. ICICI Bank’s extensive card portfolio and existing technical infrastructure posed challenges which I am proud to say we competently overcame. However, the success of this project is largely due to both the strength of our systems and the great co-operation and team effort between ICICI Bank and CTL.”
